By: Robert & Ethan, Boy’s Home Residents
The first week of June our home had the opportunity to go to Helen, GA. We were able to do many action packed activities during our few days in Helen. Our first day started with checking in to our wonderful cabin and enjoying as much swimming as we could stand. We should have listened to Mrs. Kristen when she told us to wear sunscreen because we all felt the heat of the sun the next day! That first night we had a delicious dinner at Bigg Daddys Restaurant and had some awesome wings! After dinner we went downtown and toured the local shops and tasted amazing fudge and other yummy treats at a pretty cool candy store. The next day, we headed to the Helen Tubing and Water Park and rode the same two slides a thousand times. It was a blast! After that, we had the opportunity to watch Mr. Nick almost drown as we tubed the Chattahoochee that afternoon. We went back to the cabin and got ready for another night on the town where we ate a Mexican dinner and then went to play putt putt. Not surprisingly, the game became competitive and Robert ended up winning by two points. Mr. Nick, sadly, could not pull off a win against Mrs. Kristen, though he played his best. We want to say a special thank you to Papa Mike and Nana Diane for the delicious lunches on the way to Helen and back, the staff at Chestatee Ford in Dahlonega, GA for making this trip possible and for always being so gracious to us and for all the donors to the Joy House. Also thank you to Mr. Nick and Mrs. Kristen for having the courage to take us on this trip. We had a great time! Click Here to view some photos from our trip.
A special thank you to everyone who made this getaway possible for our houseparents, their family and the boy’s home residents.
