Summer Camp 2021

The Joy House got to make a splash this Summer as part of the youth group that attended camp with Trinity Church. Based on the shore of Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia, the residents and house parents resided in a large house with lots of fun features such as arcade games, a basketball court, kayaks, a fire pit, and of course, a pool! The kids also got to take boat rides on the lake complete with tubing, participated in games such as ultimate Frisbee and finished the last night with some s’more making around a bonfire.

At the heart of the week, the youth studied through the life of David as being a man after God’s own heart. This took place both through the looking at events recorded in books such as 1 and 2 Samuel, with additional studies being done in the Psalms wherein David reflected on his life in communion with God. The students were challenged with daily scripture reading every morning coupled with interactive studies being held in the evening that discussed God’s goodness in all that David encountered in his life. Both the kids and leaders had an in-depth look at the mercy and transforming power of God throughout the week.

The camp went smoothly with safe travels and good weather accompanied by lots of fun games, snacks and swimming. We’re very thankful for Trinity Church and their support of this ministry as well as the leadership and chaperones that participated in leading and supervising the activities of the week. We certainly could not have asked for a better way to kick off the Summer of 2021!
